VS Lignite Power Private Limited

Green Belt

VSLP has made Responsible Development an integral part of the company’s ethos and we understand and are extremely committed towards our responsibility towards the environment. Recognizing the need for providing a green cover in the arid region where our power plant is situated, we have developed a green belt by planting 43,320 trees within the precincts and dedicated 82 acres of land for the purpose. 14,000 trees were planted in the last one year alone.

Goshala

We observed that the region had a scattering of stray cows, which found it difficult to survive on their own in the arid conditions of Rajasthan. We hence supported a Goshala at Gurha village where these cows are sheltered and put to use for the benefit of locals.

Nandanvan Gaushala

VSLP is playing an active role in attending to the sick Cows. It is assisting nearby Gaushalas by providing help in meeting daily needs of medicines required for tending to the sick cows. VSLP is providing support to Nandanvan Gaushala at Ghadiyala phata, Kolayat Tehsil, which tends to the medical care for sick, terminally ill abandoned cows. Almost 800 Abandoned cows are accommodated in this Gaushala.

At the facility run by Nandanvan Gaushala, a group of 80 people take care of the cow shelter. Gaushala takes care of cleanliness, fodder and health of these cows on regular basis. The injured and/ or sick cows, that require special treatment and care, are kept in a separate sheds. Cows are regularly checked for any possible signs of injury or illness and are vaccinated for maintaining a good herd health program.

VSLP has committed to meet the daily medicines requirement of the Nandanvan Gaushala.

Gurha Gaushala

VSLP also provides support to a Gaushala based at Gurha village. Requirement of fodder for the cows at Gaushala is provided on as needed basis.

COVID Care

During the pandemic, we recognized the need to strengthen the facilities at the PBM Hospital at Bikaner. The people of the region are dependent on this renowned medical facility. Ten state-of-the-art ventilators were donated to the hospital with a further commitment to build and operate an ICU unit.

New businesses

The arid, unforgiving geography where the plant is located offers little to no opportunities for locals to be gainfully employed. We felt the need to change this and have plans on the anvil to undertake projects that will make use of the byproducts from the lignite mining activity.
