VS Lignite Power Private Limited

Technologically superior generation

Lignite is a dark brown to black mineral formed out of the decomposition of plant material over millions of years. It is considered the lowest rank of coal due to its lower heat content.

VSLP has installed 135 MW power plant at Gurha Village, Bikaner District in the state of Rajasthan. The power plant works on CFBC technology on the fluidized bed concept. This involves injecting crushed lignite with a sorbent of limestone (powder) into the combustor. The particles are suspended in an upwardly moving stream of air that enters the furnace through air distribution nozzles at the bottom. In a circulating bed, the fluidizing velocity is 4 to 7 meters per second. The remaining combustion air is introduced as secondary air above the furnace’s bottom. The combustor’s firing temperature is kept at roughly 850°C. Low combustion temperatures keep thermally produced NOx under control, while adding limestone reduces SOx emissions.

As a responsible corporate citizen, VSLP ensured that mechanism to capture sulphur was operationalized from day one. The FGD system is in place and has operated from the time of operations of the plant.

Limestone aids in the retention of sulphur in the form of calcium sulphate, which is otherwise eliminated in solid form along with ash. CFBC boilers can burn a wide range of low-quality, high-ash and moisture-content fuels with low calorific value. As a result, the CFBC boiler is appropriately referred to as an environmentally friendly boiler.

Responsible Development – In every step of the way

The power generated at the project is supplied to Power Distribution Companies of Rajasthan and other states.

Superior Technology Environmentally Respectful Socially Responsible
CFBC technology – can burn a range of fuels Environmentally conscious – planted nearly 40,000 trees till 2020. Additionally, 14,000 trees planted in FY 21-22 alone. Involved in the social activities in the project area. Over 250 local people employed in various plant operations.
Pit head plant – reduces exposure of transportation of fuel & related emissions Zero discharge facility – where waste water is used for plantation and green belt development. Medical infrastructure strengthened for the benefit of people.
Environmentally Conscious from design stage – Sulphur Scrubbing practiced from day 1 – FGD Various local projects, fairs etc. supported.
